Integrated Working Group (IAG) "Paradigms, Attitude and Relationship in Psychiatry and Psychotherapy"
The IAG explores the conceptual fundamentals of psychiatric and psychotherapeutic work, following a theoretical as well as empirical approach.
One key research interest is the diversity of attitudes and relationships with an impact on psychiatry in practical terms. Another research focus is on correlations between psychiatry and society, such as an understanding of psychiatry in the broader context of societal and economic developments.
The IAG primarily applies methods borrowed from the humanities, like definition of terms and text-critical interpretation. In addition, its members conduct clinical and sociological studies, mainly using methods from qualitative social research. The intention is to foster appropriate and critical engagement with the historical and sociopolitical framework conditions for the discipline of psychiatry and psychotherapy.
