Joshua Paul

Joshua Paul ist wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter im Projekt CoronaCare am Institut für Sozialmedizin und Epidemiologie der Medizinischen Hochschule Brandenburg Theodor Fontane. Er studierte Ethnische Studien an der Universität von Kalifornien und schloss seinen Master in Soziologie an der City University in London ab. Anschließend promovierte er in Soziologie an der Goldsmiths University of London. In seiner Dissertation untersuchte er mithilfe qualitativer Interviews und Fokusgruppen mit antirassistischen Organisationen den konzeptuellen und praktischen Status der Rasse, insbesondere in Bezug auf die biologischen, ontologischen, politischen und ethischen Formationen der Eliminierung dieser Kategorie. Zu seinen Forschungsinteressen gehören die Methodologien der biokulturellen Rassenbeschreibung und -erklärung, rechtsextreme Diskurse über Rasse und Biologie, Methoden der Sozialforschung sowie der Status und die Verwendung von Rasse innerhalb des konventionellen biologischen Diskurses. Bevor er zum MHB kam, war er Senior Lecturer für Soziologie an der Universität Coventry und Dozent an der Goldsmiths University of London.

Joshua Paul is a research fellow in the CoronaCare project at the Institute for Social Medicine and Epidemiology at the Brandenburg Medical School Theodor Fontane. He studied Ethnic Studies at the University of California and completed his Masters in Sociology at City University in London. He subsequently completed his doctorate in Sociology at Goldsmiths, University of London. In his dissertation he explored through qualitative interviews and focus groups with antiracist organizations the conceptual and practical status of race, especially in relation to the biological, ontological, political and ethical formations of eliminating the category. His research interests include the methodologies of bio-cultural racial description and explanation, far-right discourses of race and biology, social research methods, and the status and use of race inside of conventional biological discourse. Before joining the MHB, he was a Senior Lecturer of Sociology at Coventry University and a Lecturer at Goldsmiths, University of London.
