MHB partner hospitals receive state recognition as university clinic group.
Bernau/ Brandenburg an der Havel/ Neuruppin/ Rüdersdorf, 22 December 2020
By letter dated 18 December 2020 the Brandenburg Ministry of Science, Research and Cultural Affairs MWFK officially recognised the following hospitals as jointly forming the “university clinic of the Brandenburg Medical School Theodor Fontane (MHB)”: Ruppiner Kliniken, Städtisches Klinikum Brandenburg, Immanuel Klinikum Bernau Herzzentrum Brandenburg and Immanuel Klinik Rüdersdorf. These constitute a network of regional hospitals and support the MHB.
This recognition opens up new perspectives for research, teaching and patient care in connection with collaborations between hospitals across locations and the new option to set up decentralised university outpatient departments.
Dr. Gerrit Fleige, MHB chancellor and commercial director, welcomes the good news shortly before Christmas as a big success and a sign of appreciation for the performance of the hospitals involved and their joint efforts in clinical research, student instruction and patient care ever since the MHB was founded.
exciting news makes us briefly forget the current pandemic and fills us with pride about the achievements and outstanding dedication on the part of numerous actors in the collaborating clinics and the donors and supporters of the MHB. We can hope to establish an even wider range of patient services in Brandenburg an der Havel, and I look to the future with confidence.”
Prof. Dr. Joachim Schindler represents the Immanuel Albertinen Diaconia as one of the shareholder organisations. He points to the excellent performance in teaching and research of MHB professors and their teams who are active in Bernau and Rüdersdorf, and he underlines the motivating effect which the official recognition will have on all involved.
District administrator Ralf Reinhardt praises the high level of medical care provided by the Ruppiner Kliniken, and their focus on teaching and research in medicine and psychology: “We have furthered the progress of our hospital towards a maximum care clinic for now ten years, and we expect – after managing the current challenges of the pandemic – to concentrate once again on this objective.”
Hospitals which collaborate with a state-approved university to ensure teaching and research in medical studies pursuant to licensing regulations for medical doctors can be officially recognised as university clinics, subject to certain legal requirements. The clinic group meets these requirements and cooperates with the MHB which received the certificate of recognition as university by letter dated 8 July 2014.
The Brandenburg Ministry of Science, Research and Cultural Affairs is the responsible authority for the official recognition as a university clinic or university clinic group. The required consent has been obtained from the Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Integration and Consumer Protection. State recognition is subject to conditions and initially due to expire on 30 September 2024.
