Institute of Health Services and Health Systems Research
Welcome on the website of our Institute of Research in Health Sciences Education, Brandenburg Faculty of Health Sciences. You find us on Campus Neuruppin, Brandenburg Medical School Theodor Fontane (MHB).
Our vision is a competence-based interprofessional type of training and further education geared to each individual student’s needs. This signifies a notable departure from the usual watering can system of confronting all learners with identical contents and formats of teaching. Accordingly, our research focuses on principles and concepts to develop transparent, coherent and well-coordinated curricula, specifically at the transition from basic training to advanced education. Key components in this context are self-paced learning, instruction adapted to individual requirements, and feedback-oriented examinations.
A core element in our research activities is the international network of education research called LOOOP which currently comprises about 200 degree courses in health sciences (of these, 40 medical programs) from a total of 42 countries. We coordinate this network in close collaboration with two institutions of the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, the Institute of Medical Informatics and the CCM/CVK (clinic of anesthesiology and intensive care), and in addition with the German Faculty Conference of Medical Schools. For more detailed information on the nearly 20-year history of our education research network see https://looop-projekt.org.
Feel free to contact us with suggestions for projects in the field of education research – basic research or research alongside training or further education. We will be pleased to offer advice or assistance in developing courses within the scope of our research network.
