First university clinic of dentistry in Brandenburg
Tour of construction site of MHB dental clinic in Brandenburg an der Havel
Brandenburg an der Havel, 13 August 2025
Brandenburg’s Mayor Steffen Scheller together with other interested individuals inspected the site of the first university clinic of dentistry of the Brandenburg Medical School (MHB) currently under construction at Bauhofstraße. The project has evolved tremendously since developer Florian Grotmann (ArteTectura) organized an earlier inspection last April. Grotmann illustrated in detail how the building is going to present itself after completion, with large-scale glazing for optimal use of daylight as an important element.
Mayor Steffen Scheller was highly pleased with the progress achieved: “I am fascinated to see the emergence of a new and attractive landmark building out of the former power plant. The project developer has addressed various architectural challenges with admirable dedication and courage. The municipality of Brandenburg is looking forward to inaugurating the first university dentistry clinic in the region. This is a milestone for university training in dentistry in the State of Brandenburg.”
The front of the building is scheduled to be completed late in autumn. Project developer Florian Grotmann will then continue with interior construction in collaboration with reliable partners from the region and Berlin and take charge of sanitary works.
MHB chancellor Dr. Gerrit Fleige showed himself much impressed with the speedy construction progress: “The new building will be an architectural highlight and at the same time an up-to-date setting to teach and practice dental medicine with optimal conditions for our students. The MHB dentistry clinic will constitute a key component in excellent and practice-oriented training of the next generation of dentists in Brandenburg. Moreover, we create a significant service of dental care for the region – patient friendly, with assured quality and a sound scientific basis.”
The free view from the future terrace on the second floor, over Kanalstraße and Theaterpark to the cathedral, brings to mind two further future building projects in town: the tram transformer station is going to give way to a terrace along the water planned for 2026/27, and a new canal bridge is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2028.
Mayor Scheller is convinced that both projects will serve to upgrade the area and improve the infrastructure for the prospective students at the new dentistry clinic.
