Solidarity and fairness in health care
Neuruppin, 12 July 2021
3rd-semester MHB medical students Isabell Zeiger and Constantin Remus are members of the Brandenburg student chapter of UNICEF. Last May they arranged and presented a virtual book auction sale, and the proceeds now go to a UNICEF project.
“The idea was to organise something like a flea market for books that would offer added value to students and generate proceeds for UNICEF. Books, posters and scripts to be auctioned were donated by students of higher semesters, by AMBOSS (digital platform for medical education) and Dt. Ärzte-Finanz (financial and business consultancy for healthcare professionals). Apart from a few books, all items were sold, and we are grateful for the response and support. Proceeds of € 312 will now go to UNICEF.”
The two medical students have chosen a specific UNICEF project: “The target behind the COVAX project is to distribute 2 billion doses of Corona vaccine worldwide to people who in the context of the global pandemic enjoy less privileges and protection compared to us in Europe and here in Germany. The amount raised with the book auction is comparatively small but intended as a symbolic contribution and a call for more solidarity and fairness in health care – in Brandenburg and beyond!”
