Rarely visited places on campus of Neuruppin university hospital

Neuruppin, 23 October 2024
Ancient buildings mirror the 130-year history of the ukrb Universitätsklinikum Ruppin-Brandenburg, a university hospital of the MHB. The MHB hosted the 30th symposium of the German Society for the History of Hospitals (DGKG) with Prof. Andreas Jüttemann as a co-organizer from 10 to 12 October. Participants were offered an exclusive guided tour to rarely visited places on the hospital premises. Expert information came, among others, from Paul Pawlik, the responsible architect for buildings X and Z. The pneumatic tube system of the hospital connects various departments and is the second largest installation of its kind in North Germany with about 1200 messages per day. Andreas Kunow, a longtime hospital employee, had details on the system and also on the former water tower “Roter Max”, as the landmark of the ukrb is fondly called by the locals. Another highlight of the tour was a visit to the festival hall with impressive decorations from the late 1980s by painter Kurt-Hermann Kühn (1926-1989).
