Regulations on minimum frequency of hospital interventions – Interview with Prof. Dawid Pieper

Neuruppin, 12 June 2024
Regulations on minimum frequency define the minimum number of specific surgeries/medical interventions a hospital needs to perform in order to receive reimbursement for these services from the health insurance funds. One objective is to ensure that only facilities with sufficient experience and expertise provide specific medical services.
The MIVOS project co-financed by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research has supplied the so far only systematic overview of the impact of such regulations in the hospital sector. Prof. Dawid Pieper, director of the Institute of Health Services and Outcomes Research at the Brandenburg Medical School Theodor Fontane (MHB), is in charge of the project. In his interview he addresses, among other things, the insights won from the project, and aspects that surprised him.
