New MHB Podcast „Auf den Zahn gefühlt“: Probing into topics around dental medicine
Brandenburg an der Havel, 8 April 2026
The Brandenburg Medical School Theodor Fontane (MHB) starts a podcast named “Auf den Zahn gefühlt” in time with the beginning of the summer term. This new format is meant to present dental medicine as a dynamic, accessible and multifaceted discipline and combines personal impressions with sound expertise. Target groups are current and prospective students as well as qualified dentists.
The makers: the team “SchmaZie”, consisting of Prof. Dr. Dr. Gerhard Schmalz and Prof. Dr. Dirk Ziebolz from the MHB department of conservative dentistry. Based on ample experience in research, teaching and practice, they describe the background of dental medicine, from first steps as dental students and the beginnings of a professional career up to current developments and issues related to the future of the discipline.
The focus will be on open debate about the motivation to study dental medicine, on special features of training at the MHB, and on the challenges and chances of today’s professional practice. Other topics to be addressed and located in context are the role of AI, modern treatment concepts and the close correlation between oral and general health.
The hosts intend to illustrate the diversity and relevance of dental medicine and offer genuine glimpses behind the scenes. They wish to share knowledge, give orientation and stimulate an interest in the various areas of dentistry. The podcast also provides space for perspectives and experiences which tend to be overlooked in clinical routines.
New episodes will follow at two-week intervals. Guests from inside and outside the MHB will be invited to present subject knowledge and new ideas, hopefully with entertainment value. The start of the podcast is scheduled for 9 April at 6:30 p.m. Here is the link to the podcast.
