New MHB location in Neuruppin’s town center
Neuruppin, 27 January 2026
The Brandenburg Medical School Theodor Fontane (MHB) officially opened newly occupied premises in the town center of Neuruppin. Prof. Susanne Veit (social psychology), Prof. Bertram Opitz (general psychology) and district manager Ralf Reinhardt in his capacity as chairman of the MHB board cut the ribbon in the company of MHB president Prof. Hans-Uwe Simon and Chancellor Dr. Gerrit Fleige. 6 d Puschkinstraße offers modern work and office space as the third fixed MHB location, and as a visual demonstration of continued growth.
Up to 30 workspaces have been created on approximately 520 square meters outside the hospital grounds for several sections from teaching, research and administration, some of which already occupied their new offices over the past weeks.
According to owner Matthias Sand, the building was erected around 1996 and has been used by various institutions since then, such as the labor court, the Medical Service of the Health Funds, or a daycare facility for children. After comprehensive renovations the building now houses major sections of the psychology department and central administrative units. Among these are the department of curricular and student affairs, the Institute of Methodology (Institut für Methodenlehre) as well as the Institutes of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy, and of General Psychology. Prof. Simon pointed to the growing need for additional space, not only for the university but also for the university hospital Ruppin-Brandenburg (ukrb).
In addition to the main campus at the ukrb and the premises of the former grammar school, the MHB now has a further permanent facility in the town center of Neuruppin. This is going to increase the visibility of the MHB for the locals, so a highly pleased Prof. Simon.
