MHB visits Faculty of Medicine in Haifa
Neuruppin, 10 December 2018
An MHB delegation led by Dean Prof. Dr. Edmund Neugebauer visited the Faculty of Medicine at the TECHNION – Israel Institute of Technology from 5 to 7 December 2018. Apart from personal encounters and the cultivation of existing relations, a primary aim was an official partnership agreement with the institution which was founded in 1924.
MHB dean Neugebauer declared himself much impressed with the technical and human resources on site and the high standard of laboratory equipment: “We were given exciting insights into ongoing key research projects. Highlights were research facilities including, e.g., MRT for mice, and in particular the paediatric clinic with its child-oriented interior design and furnishings. We also visited a fully equipped and functional underground hospital which was built to offer medical care and shelter to the local population in emergency situations.”
Johannes Albes (MHB professor of cardiac surgery) who is in charge of international relations said this visit serves as motivation to intensify key research activities: “The TECHNION Faculty of Medicine pursues goals similar to those of the MHB and may be seen as a role model in research. Both universities found numerous points of common interest for future collaboration and joint research efforts.”
Julian Mollin, medical student and student assistant for international affairs, was pleased with the prospect of student exchange between MHB and TECHNION and scheduled traineeships, tertials of placement years and joint research projects.
Prof. Neugebauer thanked his hosts for the warm welcome and interesting programme on behalf of the MHB delegation and said he is looking forward to collaboration projects and an early return visit of a delegation from Haifa at the MHB.
