MHB Professor Zouboulis among Germany’s foremost dermatologists

The academic platform Research.com has published its “Best Scientists Ranking 2026” in the field of medicine, listing Prof. Dr. Christos C. Zouboulis from the Brandenburg Medical School Theodor Fontane (MHB) among the leading scientists.
Prof. Zouboulis is listed as number six among dermatologists in Germany, number 207 in the national ranking of physicians, and number 3,656 among physicians worldwide. The Ranking evaluates researchers based on the so called D Index (Discipline H-Index), which isolates scientific publications and citation impact to the specific discipline. Only researchers with a D Index of at least 70 in the field of medicine are included in the ranking.
Prof. Dr. Zouboulis is a lecturer and researcher and holds an MHB professorship of dermatology, venerology and allergology. In addition, he heads the clinic of dermatology, venerology and allergology at the Ruppin-Brandenburg university hospital (ukrb) in Neuruppin.
His key research focus is on Hidradenitis suppurativa, a chronic inflammatory skin condition involving repeated painful inflammations, abscesses and nodes primarily in skin folds such as arm pits or groin. The disorder may strongly affect patients’ daily life and is often difficult to manage.
Other main research interests of Prof. Zouboulis are acne and rosacea, skin protection and skin aging, skin damage following chemotherapy, as well as inflammatory intestinal diseases like microscopic colitis. Further areas of interest include research on colorectal and anal carcinoma.
