MHB is going to train dental assistants

In addition to university places, the Brandenburg Medical School Theodor Fontane (MHB) now also offers training positions to future dental assistants at its location in Brandenburg an der Havel and promises a high degree of practice orientation in a modern setting. Franziska Teschke/MHB (photo) explains why this occupation is varied and future-proof – and how to apply.
Frau Teschke, the MHB offers positions for training as dental assistants. Can you give us more details?
Franziska Teschke: Yes, with great pleasure. Our new dental clinic is under construction on the site of the former power plant Bauhofstraße. This is where we are going to school future dentists in practical skills, and where we will also employ dental assistants. These are of great importance as all-rounders in dental surgeries and take on a wide range of tasks. They are something like the “soul of the house” and the backbone for each dental office and also for our new dental clinic.
What exactly are their responsibilities?
The tasks are many and varied, from patient care to organization and administrative as well as medical activities. Dental assistants receive patients, assist in treatment, advise on oral hygiene, organize appointments, manage records and so on. The job is stressful sometimes but also satisfying and fulfilling, seeing that you can help others and how pleased they are with successful interventions.
This sounds like an interesting and multifaceted occupation. Where is the training scheduled to take place?
Practical training is scheduled for our new outpatient department, located at Wilhelmsdorfer Straße, with an experienced team of instructors. Trainees will be involved in daily practice routines right from the start and learn from dentists and dental assistants. As soon as the dental clinic is inaugurated, it will also serve as a training facility. Theoretical education will take place at the Oberstufenzentrum "Johanna Just" in Potsdam.
What about the start of the training period, and how to apply?

What is special about training at the MHB?
The MHB offers varied career paths to young people. In addition to the well-known study programs in medicine, dental medicine and psychology, there are training positions available in a number of different disciplines at the locations Brandenburg an der Havel and Neuruppin.
