Medical Rehabilitation Management
MHB celebrates first graduates of CAS program

Berlin, 10 July 2024
Four students have successfully completed the new CAS program in “Medical Rehabilitation Management" (Certificate of Advanced Studies /MedRM). The IRU (institute for rehabilitation and accident medicine), affiliated to the Brandenburg Medical School Theodor Fontane (MHB), offers the program as a part-time course. After two years of in-depth exploration of medical, therapeutic, social-law and civil-law aspects of rehabilitation for severely injured and severely ill people, the graduates now presented final theses with scientifically sound solutions to problems from their occupational life.
Certificates handed over by MHB president
A highlight of the graduation ceremony was the presentation of certificates by MHB president Prof. Hans-Uwe Simon. He acknowledged the performance of the graduates and underlined the significance of the new program as a further step in the professionalization of the rehab management sector. The first CAS program to be established at the MHB, so Prof. Simon, documents the MHB’s capacities to set new standards not only in student education but also in on-the-job advanced training, and will certainly serve as a role model for further CAS programs. The four graduates have acquired comprehensive competences to accompany individuals with complex impairments on their road back to a self-determined life.
CAS program in "Medical Rehabilitation Management"
The CAS program MedRM targets health professionals who plan to expand their competences in the rehabilitation of severely injured and severely ill individuals. The four-semester part-time program comprises the medical and therapeutical fundamentals of rehabilitation, social-law and civil-law aspects of healthcare coverage as well as basics of social and occupational participation.
Dr. Jörg Schmidt, medical IRU director, points out that the course is unique in Germany and a rare opportunity to prepare for a future-oriented professional field that is in great demand. It combines expertise from several disciplines and helps to grasp the complexities involved in the management of bodily injuries. The course is characterized by practical orientation in teaching and highly individual design. Close cooperations with facilities of healthcare and rehabilitation ensure access to relevant networks.
A new MedRM course will start with the winter term 2024/2025. Applications are welcome up to and including 31 August 2024. For more detailed information online see www.mhb-iru.de.
