MHB basic certificate for teachers receives MDN certificate as first university in Brandenburg
Neuruppin, 23 January 2026
The Brandenburg Medical School Theodor Fontane (MHB) has reached a further milestone in assuring a high level of teaching: the MDN basic certificate A for teachers in the context of advanced training in medical didactics. The MHB is the first university in Brandenburg to meet the quality standards of the German Medicine Didactics Network MDN.
The MDN is a work group within the MFT, the Faculty Conference of Medical Schools in Germany. It develops nationwide obligatory standards for professionalized medical education. The certification aims to ensure compatibility and recognition of advanced training in medical didactics across universities.
Having assessed a self-evaluation report and performed an audit, the MDN experts confirmed that the MHB fully complies with the consented quality standards. The above-mentioned MHB certificate comprises 24 working units and may be designated as MDN- certified advanced training for the coming five years.
The MDN certificate enables the MHB to open its qualification program to teachers of other universities and underlines its pioneering role as a provider of innovative and quality-assured medical instruction in Brandenburg and beyond.
“The MDN certificate confirms the quality of our advanced training in medical didactics in compliance with nationwide standards of teacher qualifications. We are particularly pleased to be the first medical school in Brandenburg to offer openings to lecturers from other universities,” so Prof. Dr. Thomas Stamm, vice dean for curricular and student affairs at the Faculty of Medicine and Psychology.
