Kliniken Beelitz: new academic teaching hospital of the MHB
Neuruppin/Beelitz-Heilstätten, 29 October 2025
The Kliniken Beelitz expand their commitment to medical education and have been awarded the status of academic training hospital for the Brandenburg Medical School Theodor Fontane (MHB). Medical students are going to benefit from the highly specialized expertise of the institution during the last part of their training, i.e. the Practical Year.
The Kliniken Beelitz with their specialization in neurological disorders offer a wide range from neurological early rehabilitation to centers for weaning, for Parkinson’s Disease and paraplegia and therefore manifold and interesting fields of activity for practical-year students.
Enrico Ukrow, managing director, is looking forward to cooperation with the MHB and the opportunity to accompany prospective physicians on their way into working life: “This collaboration is profitable to both sides – it is going to boost the promotion of young talents and bring fresh momentum to our clinical routines.”
As one of the MHB Academic Teaching Hospitals the Kliniken Beelitz will be in charge of practical training in neurology for medical students. Students are going to get comprehensive insights into clinical practice and enjoy the friendly atmosphere, close personal monitoring and specialist knowhow on site.
Professor Dr. med. Hans-Uwe Simon, MHB president and managing director, praises the strong practice orientation of the regionally anchored Kliniken Beelitz as a valuable asset: “They offer specialist services for neurological early rehabilitation and for diagnostics and therapy of Parkinson’s Disease. Our students are going to experience comprehensive patient-centered medicine at a regional facility, be actively involved in patient care under expert supervision, and thus acquire clinical hands-on experience with various neurological disorders.”
In addition to the scheduled collaboration, the Kliniken Beelitz document their continued efforts to promote quality in medicine, knowledge transfer and the training of young talents by way of current teaching positions: Prof. Anna Gorsler (M.D.) at the MHB, Prof. Georg Ebersbach (M.D.) at the Charité and the University of Potsdam, Prof. Stefan Mainka (Dr. Phil.) at the Berlin University of the Arts and Prof. Doreen Gruber (M.D.) at the MHB.
Prof. Anna Gorsler as medical director of Kliniken Beelitz welcomes the status of an academic teaching hospital awarded by the MHB as something special, and for specialist hospitals harder to achieve compared to clinics of general or maximum care. “We plan to integrate the practical-year students into patient care so that they can learn as much as possible, deepen their theoretical knowledge and put it into practice. They will have immediate patient contacts and be introduced to the responsibilities involved. We are looking forward to receiving them!”
The Kliniken Beelitz are not only concerned with competent patient care but also with the training of highly qualified personnel in other health-related professions. In the context of the “Recura Akademie“ they offer various training programs for therapists, nurses and nursery school teachers. Professions in the health sector are increasingly appreciated as crisis-proof, well paid and respected; the Recura Akademie has growing numbers of applications. The Kliniken Beelitz offer options of further training and qualification, which again raises the standard in these professions. Moreover, many physicians employed there are active in research.
