Improved healthcare provision
Brandenburg an der Havel, 26 September 2022
The MHB campus Brandenburg an der Havel was the location of the 3rd Brandenburg Conference on Health Services Research on 23 and 24 September 2022, jointly organized by the Centre for Health Services Research and the profile section II (health services research with focus on eHealth) at the Faculty of Health Sciences (FGW). The meeting was preceded by this year’s MHB Summer School with a focus on the ailing health system. The hybrid event with 60 participants – one third of them online – aimed to link up researchers in the field and provide an overview of the current care situation in Brandenburg.
Prof. Dawid Pieper, MHB professor of healthcare and health system research, was pleased to note that the presentation and debate of current projects served to illustrate the situation in Brandenburg and identify possible research gaps: “A total of 23 contributions addressed topics such as Digital Health, competence and participation, guidelines and methods, and regionality, and stimulated lively exchange.” He expects encouraging effects for the further development of health services research and potentially improved healthcare in Brandenburg.
The two-day meeting was complemented by two keynote speeches, on Friday by Dr. Günther Jonitz (on value-based health care) and on Saturday by Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Hoffmann who presented pertinent activities in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania as examples of how to improve healthcare in the region.
MHB Prof. Martin Heinze (psychiatry and psychotherapy) gave particular thanks to Health Minister Ursula Nonnemacher for her attendance and her presentation on the second day where she illustrated the Brandenburg government’s plans for improving the provision of healthcare and underlined the significant role of health services research in this context.
