1st closed meeting on research sets course for future activities.

Schloss Groß Ziethen was the location for the first closed meeting on research developments at the Brandenburg Medical School (MHB) on 13 and 14 January 2017. Participants explored and discussed the current state of research at MHB. Prof. Dr. René Mantke, Vice Dean for Research and Academic Affairs, found indications of positive trends in the MHB research performance: publications as well as third-party revenues were more than doubled in 2016 compared to the year before.

An external scientific advisory committee accompanied the meeting. Prof. Mantke thanked the expert members for their valuable contributions and was pleased to announce that they will continue to proactively support MHB in the design, development and implementation of its research master plan.

Another complementary factor to MHB developments is the decision taken by Minister Martina Münch to provide funding for the Brandenburg Health Campus where MHB is currently involved with two projects. Mantke pointed out that the MHB research concept with its focus on “health and illness of ageing in population-relevant diseases” effectively joins up with the authorities’ strategies to further increase the visibility of medical research in Brandenburg.
