“Fellow students like you – that would be great!”
Neuruppin, 31 May 2021
The MHB again received much positive feedback for the virtual higher education information day (VIT) last Saturday. The aim was to ensure that prospective students of medicine and psychotherapy get a personal impression of the MHB despite Corona and can ask pertinent questions in live chat rooms parallel to events on the agenda.
Head of MHB Communications Dr. Eric Alexander Hoffmann describes the wide range of contributions from instructors and students, videos and interactive live programme items which offered authentic insights into innovative MHB courses and practice-based formats of teaching and learning: “Participants made active use of the opportunity to learn more about student life in Neuruppin, accommodation, individual selection procedures, available grants and financial options. The easily accessible virtual event provided valuable additional information and practical suggestions to interested individuals and their parents alike.”
Personal and interactive format despite social distancing
Participation in the virtual higher education information day only required a pc/laptop or a smartphone/iPad with internet access, camera, loudspeaker and microphone.
Tom Putensen, Bachelor student of psychology and part of the student orga team in charge of the VIT, is pleased with the successful event and approximately 300 registrations. He interprets the many curious questions from potential applicants as indication of a very high level of interest. Professional, authentic and honest contributions from his fellow students, so Putensen, conveyed much relevant information and encouraged school leavers to apply for a study place at the MHB. He acted as a presenter for the psychology department during the event.
The format of the virtual information day, says Hoffmann, originated from requirements due to the Corona situation. “The positive feedback we received clearly indicates that the format is effective. The main advantage is that it is a low-threshold opportunity to get an impression of the MHB in direct and personal exchange with teachers and students and to consider studies at the MHB as an option, and all this without a need for time-consuming and costly travel.
This is why we plan to offer more virtual information events in future, independent of Corona. But of course we hope we can soon organize regular information days on site in Neuruppin.”
