We say goodbye
End of an era – a legend leaves the MHB
Neuruppin, 31 July 2025
Cornelia Gammelin, MHB employee for many years and the soul and spirit of student services, is taking her well-earned retirement, but not yet for good. MHB president Hans-Uwe Simon announces a moment “which we have all been afraid of: after ten wonderful years together at the MHB, we have to bid farewell to Cornelia Gammelin. The moment is very special indeed since we stand to lose a much appreciated colleague, a wonderful person who enriched our team with her dedication, energy and experience. Our students have always been dear to her heart. Her retirement marks the end of an era.
At the same time we are pleased to hear that after a short holiday she will be back on 1 September to assist a successor for a transition period. We are happy and grateful that she is going to give us this extra time up to the end of the year.”
Surprise guest from Munich
Colleagues and students organized a farewell party for her. A surprise guest created a highly emotional moment when he appeared at the party in Neuruppin: Maximilian Fichtl, MHB alumnus of the very first cohort of medical students and anesthetist, had come from Munich to say goodbye in person: “Dear Conny, right from the start you have been of key importance to us as students, an essential contact point, advisor, good friend and reference person. The MHB and its students are going to miss you very much, your helpfulness, your sense of humor, your positive attitude.”
The entire MHB team wishes her all the best for the new phase in her life, health, happiness and joy, and thrilling new challenges.
