About 300 guests visited MHB Open Day in Neuruppin

When the Brandenburg Medical School Theodor Fontane (MHB) opened its doors in Neuruppin to the public on 6 June, more than 300 curious visitors seized the opportunity to get a whiff of campus life and personal information. University staff and students had come up with an event-filled program which offered exciting insights into degree courses in medicine, dental medicine and psychology and attracted a lot of interest in studies at the MHB.

One of the highlights was the Skills Lab with simulations of emergencies and demonstrations of the birth simulator “Victoria”. Visitors were invited to become proactive and test their skills; they practiced wound care and blood sampling under supervision and realistic conditions - and with much enthusiasm. A new ambulance vehicle, scheduled to form part of practical student instruction, was presented, explored and explained in great detail.

Many visitors made use of the chance to talk to students and get first-hand information about daily life at the MHB. Further topics in particular demand were student advisory services and insights into individual disciplines. Students contributed to the pleasant and inviting ambience with a barbecue and homemade cakes.  

Other popular program elements were guided tours of the campus and the premises of the university hospital Ruppin-Brandenburg with librarian Anett Grest; Andreas Winkelmann (MHB professor of anatomy) opened his institute to the guests, and Chancellor Dr. Gerrit Frage answered questions from prospective students and their parents on all study-related matters.

This Open Day once again underlined that the MHB is a vibrant place of studies, research and active participation. A further edition is of course planned for 2027.
