Integrierte Arbeitsgruppe (IAG) Lipidologie
In der IAG Lipidologie beschäftigen wir uns mit der Untersuchung von Lipiden und Lipidmediatoren im Kontext verschiedener Erkrankungen und von Alterungsprozessen.
Mehrfach ungesättigte Fettsäuren (PUFAs), darunter die Omega-6-Fettsäure Arachidonsäure (AA) und die Omega-3-Fettsäuren Eicosapentaensäure (EPA) sowie Docosahexaensäure (DHA), sind Vorläufermoleküle für durch oxidative Modifikation entstehende Oxylipine.
Eicosanoide, einschließlich der von AA abgeleiteten Prostaglandine und Leukotriene, sind am besten untersucht und stellen eine der biologisch wichtigsten Gruppen von Oxylipinen bei Säugetieren dar. Sie sind biologisch aktive Lipide, die bei verschiedenen pathologischen Prozessen wie Atherothrombose, Entzündungen und Krebs eine Rolle spielen. Damit sind sie von großer Interesse in der Altersforschung.
Weiterhin katalysieren Cytochrom P450 (CYP)-Enzyme die Hydroxylierung und Epoxidierung von PUFAs wie AA, dabei entstehen Lipidprodukte, die an der Blutdruckregulierung und Beeinflussung von Entzündungsreaktionen beteiligt sind.
In der IAG Lipidologie werden in diesem Zusammenhang Projekte insbesondere zu den folgenden Themen bearbeitet:
1) Untersuchung und Etablierung von Techniken und Methoden zur Untersuchung von Fettsäuren und Oxylipinen bei Patient:innen mit metabolischen, entzündlichen und neoplastischen Erkrankungen.
2) die Charakterisierung pharmakologischer Einflussmöglichkeiten auf Lipide, Lipidmediatoren und Oxylipinen.
3) Untersuchung der biologischen Rolle von Oxylipinen bei verschiedenen Krankheitsbildern.
