TIMO 2026 - Tumor Immunology Meets Oncology
TIMO connects research and clinic to boost cancer immunotherapy, unite experts and empower young scientists to advance anti-tumor strategies.
The meeting “Tumor Immunology Meets Oncology” (TIMO) connects basic and translational research with clinical implememtation. Although immunotherapies have achieved remarkable success in treating many cancer types, a proportion of patients still fail to respond. Thus, there is an urgent need for innovative strategies to improve therapeutic efficacy and patient outcomes, for example, by reprogramming the immune-inhibitory characteristics of tumors and their immunosuppressive microenvironment.
TIMO brings together an outstanding international community of scientists and clinicians dedicated to tumor immunology and immunotherapy. It also provides a platform for early-career researchers to present their work to leading experts in the field. The meeting fosters scientific exchange and encourages collaborations aimed at advancing the development and clinical implementation of novel treatment strategies. For the third consecutive year, the Brandenburg Medical School Theodor Fontane (MHB) in Brandenburg an der Havel will host TIMO. In 2026, we once again anticipate exceptional participation from both national and international colleagues. This year’s program will address key topics such as immune escape mechanisms, immune metabolism, and treatment response. These sessions will be complemented by discussions on biomarkers and innovative immunotherapeutic and cell-based approaches, including combination therapies.
The year 2026 marks a special milestone for TIMO and its founder, Prof. Dr. Barbara Seliger, an internationally renowned expert in cancer immunology. TIMO will celebrate its 20th anniversary, underscoring the continued importance and impact of this field.
We warmly invite you to join us in celebrating this occasion. Participants can look forward to high-level speakers, cutting-edge insights, engaging discussions with experts, and valuable networking opportunities in the beautiful city of Brandenburg. The meeting will also feature a poster exhibition, a dedicated session highlighting outstanding work by young scientists, and a memorable networking evening.
Call for abstracts: We encourage anyone interested in participating to submit abstracts for the TIMO XX workshop on Thursday, May 7th, 2026 - the deadline for submitting has been extended until March 10, 2026. Please submit your abstracts within the following format: max. 1 page, Arial, 12-point. We will select participants who will have the opportunity for a short presentations within the workshop on Thursday. A total of 18 slots will be available for these short talks of 15 minutes and a 5-minute discussion. Furthermore, there will be a poster session on Thursday evening for 20 posters.
