The Brandenburg Medical School Theodor Fontane (MHB) has taken another important step towards international cooperation in joining the Baltic University Programme (BUP). MHB president Prof. Hans-Uwe Simon has actively pursued this move and welcomes the opportunity for the MHB to build close collaborations and networks with renowned educational institutions in the entire Baltic region, to promote international exchange of knowledge and resources and enhance research and teaching: “Access to a broad range of interdisciplinary projects and resources will considerably improve academic development and mobility for our students and teachers within the Baltic Sea area and in addition support the MHB’s position as an attractive place of learning.”

One of the largest university cooperations worldwide, the Baltic University Programme (BUP) covers approximately 90 universities including 13 medical schools and numerous other university departments whose work focuses on Medical Technologies, Public Health, Health and Society. These institutions are jointly involved in research and educational activities in the field of sustainable development and democracy and are represented in the 14 countries surrounding the Baltic Sea.

The network primarily aims to promote education and research in the field of sustainable development and democracy. The BUP plays a decisive role in supporting international collaboration to draw up research proposals, bring partner institutions together and facilitate joint applications.
